Course FAQs
During the course, you will cover:
Traditional Walling Techniques: The art of selecting, shaping, and placing stones to create a structurally sound wall.
Tools of the Trade: Familiarising yourself with the essential tools used in dry stone walling and learning how to use them safely and effectively.
Safety Practices: Understanding and adhering to safety guidelines to prevent injuries and ensure a safe working environment.
Building a Practice Wall Section: Hands-on experience in constructing a section of dry stone wall, applying the techniques learned throughout the course.
The course is a one day Introduction Course running from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm each day. The schedule includes a mix of theoretical instruction, demonstrations, and hands-on practice.
Our instructors are experienced and DWSA certified dry stone wallers with a passion for sharing their knowledge and expertise. They provide personalised guidance and support to ensure that each participant gains a solid understanding of the craft. Our Introduction courses are limited to four people per course.
The course will be held at the Heritage Walls training field, Falmouth, Cornwall.
Yes, we provide a hearty, locally sourced lunch and an afteroon tea! (you can tell us any dietary requirements when you complete the booking form)
As we will be working outside please come prepared with sturdy protective footwear and wet weather gear - just in case!
Please also remember to bring sunscreen as the field is quite open and hopefully we will have lovely weather.
The course fee includes:
All necessary materials (stone, aggregates, etc.)
Use of tools and equipment
Refreshments (tea, coffee, water) throughout the day
Lunch and a traditional cream team at the end of the day!
Full payment is required to secure your place on the course. Cancellations made more than 30 days prior to the course start date will receive a full refund, less a £10 administrative fee. Cancellations made within 10 days of the course start date are non-refundable. However, you may transfer your booking to another participant or date with prior notice.
